My mechanic returned my vehicle the other night and while we stood on the back porch discussing it, I could see this sky getting prettier and prettier.
As soon as he left, I ran upstairs to get above the telephone wires and took this picture.
My sister makes the most beautiful quilts. This is one that my mother-in-law started years ago but didn't get very far with so Nancy finished it for her and added the shams, pillow, and bed skirt. If you click on the link, it will take you to her husband's music site. Just click on "Nancy's Page" to see her quilts.
My husband and I are total opposites but, one thing I know, is that he's my biggest supporter and always has my back.
We have our own interests and while he's fishing or putting a motorcycle together, I'm able to write poetry or go to the beach or do any of the things I enjoy.
This week he's at camp and every night he calls to make sure I'm in for the evening and that the doors are locked.
Sure, sometimes he drives me crazy but the fires are still burning!

These pennants were so much fun to make last summer. This one is by Barbara Hagerty. I figured I'd put them in my journal so I'll know where they are and can look at them whenever I want to. More to follow!
I never think about black and white but it's cool to experiment with it.
This picture I took a couple weeks ago seems to lend itself to being changed to black and white. There wasn't much color to begin with but when I edited it, the blossom seemed to just pop out of the background.
Saw this scene when I was out for my walk the other night.
The sun was setting behind my back and the shadow of Mt. Forist was creeping slowly up the mountains on the east side of town. For more cool sky shots visit SkyWatch Friday.
We took our cameras with us when we went outside today during Nature Journaling class.
These are chokecherry blossoms, I think
These really caught our eye. The owner was outside working on her yard so we asked her what they were and were surprised when she said they were tulips.
This little grasshopper tried to join us.
I love the way bluettes look so perky when they are in a clump in the middle of green grass.
It's amazing how much more we noticed with these extra eyes today!
It was a nice but quick weekend at camp. The weather was rainy all Sunday morning so we came back home early. It wasn't as wet up here so I was able to mow the lawn.
I love mowing and shoveling! Crazy, I know!
Spoke with both the kids for Mother's Day and with my mom and Gary's mom, too.
I've been slow to journal this week after the April marathon.
I had a good week, though. On Thursday I took a professional day and attended the annual Librarian's conference as a guest of our school media specialist. The author of a couple books I teach my tenth graders was the luncheon speaker and she was so entertaining.
Her name is Susan Beth Pfeffer and she wrote Life As We Knew It and the dead & the gone. If you are looking for a couple of really good reads, pick these books up; you won't be disappointed. They are young adult novels but I can't tell you how many adults love them. They are the types of books that just stay with you.
Anyway, it was a treat to have a day off in the middle of the week. It felt so good to not be tired when I got home. I went to Milan and bought all my flowers for the cemeteries, the house in Berlin, and camp. I even did three loads of laundry. And the icing on the cake? My husband went to camp on Thursday so I had the bed to myself for one night! Oh, did I sleep well!
And, like one of my Poetry-writing students said, "And she took us with her!" Their booklets are due on Monday.
So, I didn't feel too guilty about taking a personal day on Friday. I can think of only one or two other times that I've done that in almost 30 years of teaching.
I did this page at camp this weekend but didn't have much of my "stuff" with me so I looked through some of the letters Anne has sent me over the years and found a few things to put on the page.
