My husband came back from Florida with a couple of newspapers that had bright and colorful pictures he thought I'd like to use in my journal.  He was right!

SkyWatch Friday: Sky in Frog Pond

I love how the blue sky is reflected in this frog pond.

Carol's Garden

We drove down to Morris CT yesterday to place Gary's father and his wife, Elli, in an assisted-living facility.  His wife's son and daughter-in-law, Carol, live nearby.  Carol and I took a walk through her beautiful yard and I snapped a few pictures of her flowers.  This was the only peaceful moment in an otherwise very stressful day.

I Went Crazy

First I glued a napkin with school and art items on it to the gessoed page.  I got the napkin from the mentoring meeting. I'm sure Ben thought I was nuts slipping the napkin into my purse.  Then I gessoed some more.  Then I drizzled paint all over everything.

Last Year of Teaching Update

We're already in our 3rd week of school.  I can't believe how fast it's going.

I took these pictures on the first day of school before the kids came in.  Notice the shiny clean floor and white board.  This is the view the kids have when they enter the room.

This is the view from my desk.  I once had all cranberry student desks but my big boys have broken so many that I had to replace them with strays.  (The desks, not the boys!)

This is from the corner of the room where the windows are.  That bulletin board is now covered with literal illustrations of Hamlet's first soliloquy.  "Oh, that this too, too, sullied flesh would melt, thaw, and resolve itself into a dew."  They drew melting ice cubes with Hamlet's head on top.

This is from the back corner looking toward my desk.  See that poster in the upper left-hand corner?  It was made by a student several years ago just before he died.  I can't take it down.

So, I hope you enjoyed this tour of my room.  It's looking a little bit more lived in, now.  There is writing all over the white board and small posters of love similes made by my tenth graders taped on the blue chalk board.  My favorite: Love is like gold; it's hard and expensive.

This is one of the displays I made for my mom's funeral.  I tried to find as many family members with my mom as possible.

And this is the other one I did of my mom when she was much younger.  She was so beautiful!

Pictures and things that represented my mom.

In the background are two of the many cross stitch pictures she did.

New Computer

Yes, I had to bite the bullet and buy a new computer.  It would have cost about $250 to get my old one fixed.

But I goofed.  I forgot to make sure this new one has a slot for my SD card.  It doesn't.  I do have an adapter but it's at home and I'm at camp so no new pics until Monday.

I've been taking lots of photos all week and am anxious to see them!
