Trying a New Technique

Lucy showcased this neat background technique and I had to try it. It layers scrap papers, glue, gesso and paint. Pretty nifty! Thanks to Lisa for the link.

I'm So Lucky...

...to have a friend who writes to me all the time and sends me cool things in her letters!

Playing Peek-a-boo! in NH

I took this shot one morning about a week ago on my way out of the house.

Ouch!

A couple months ago, my friend, Anne, fell and really hurt her foot and ankle. Not fun! She couldn't even drive for six weeks.

Monday

Found this butterfly when I was going through old letters. It was just begging to end up in my journal!

Sick Day

A nasty cold has attacked me. I decided to take my first sick day this school year.

So, I was able to take this picture out on the back porch in the sunlight.

Look What I Found Today!

I was in the cellar and decided to move all the stuff off my granfather's old steamer trunk. Inside, are many of the letters my girlfriend, Anne, has sent me over the years. I dug through and found all kinds of cool stamps.

The oldest was from 1992 and is the flag stamp with Mt. Rushmore on the bottom; it's next to a postmark on a beige envelope and cost 29 cents. (third row up from the bottom on the right)

The Beginning of the Week

I had leftover chicken and wanted to make a casserole so looked in the Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book that my grandmother, Nonie, gave me when I got married almost 38 years ago.

Unfortunately, I didn't have all of the ingredients for any of the recipes in there so decided just to mix and match. Gary liked it so much he made me write it down. I called it Kitchen Sink Chicken Casserole because it contained everything but!

The cheese sauce was left over from an earlier meal when we'd had broccoli. So, I threw that in but some shredded cheese would probably work fine, too; I'd just add more evaporated milk.

Unreal

When my husband went out to start his truck Monday morning, he called to me, "Grab your camera and come see this sunrise."

And this is exactly what it looked like; I didn't enhance it at all.

A Little of This and a Little of That

I just poked away at this all day Sunday, picking up things on my desk and gluing them in.

Holy Coyote!

When Gary went into the woods this morning, he saw a coyote devouring a deer. So he called Ron, pictured, who has a hunting license, and is legal to shoot these pests.

Gary took this picture with his cell phone.

Playing with Paint

I know I shouldn't have used that metallic paint but I really like it. It's smooth and so easy to write on.

The major problem with it is that I can't use a flash when I take the picture.

SkyWatch Friday

I took this last night at sundown. I love the soft colors.

Journal Page

I actually went outside to photograph this page but it was so darn windy, the pages kept flipping up.

The sun had just gone down behind the mountain when I got home but I tried getting a picture, anyway.

Things should be better next week after we change the clocks.

Lisa's Round Robin

Tammy's
theme for the Round Robin is to design a page about what COZY means to us. To me, sitting in a comfy chair with a good book is the ultimate coziness. I even wrote a "book" about it!

Back to the Old Grind

It feels good to be journaling again after not doing any pages last week.

Vacations are always good!

My student, Amanda, sent this postcard from England last week and it arrived yesterday. As with the postcard Nathan sent from Amsterdam, the stamp was not cancelled. Kind of weird. Anyway, it was really nice of her to send this. She knows how I like stamps.

Vacation Week

I bought some new acrylic paints from Walmart and this one is a metallic amethyst. So pretty but it doesn't photograph that well.

Kylie is such a ham and she modeled for me so I could practice with my new camera.
