Gratitude Journal: Day 30

Yay! I did it! Made it through the whole month. I liked thinking about what I was thankful for each day. It made me more present in the moment. And it made me realize how lucky I am to be retired, to have a great family and wonderful friends.

Even though I spilled a whole half gallon of grape juice today all over the kitchen floor, the fridge, the cupboards and even though I had to spend time with customer support for our cable, that is nothing!

When I get to see this every night, I know life is good.

When I get to walk in the dark and not feel threatened, I know how fortunate I am.

When I see our community transformed by Christmas lights and I have a camera with which I can capture the magic, I smile and am thankful for my husband and kids for getting it for me for my sixtieth birthday.

When I'm able to buy a cool gift for my granddaughter's birthday and Christmas, I know the value of hard work.

When I can sit around most of the morning and feel comfortable with my laziness, I appreciate this golden time in my life.

Gratitude Journal: Day 29

Thankful for the yummy omelette I made for myself this morning:

Ham
Sweet red bell pepper
American cheese
Pizza cheese blend of cheddar and mozzarella

Sadly, I didn't take a picture of it. :-(

Only took one photo all day as I was walking over to check the mail.

But, the good news is I had a letter waiting for me in our box. Thanks, Anne!

Gratitude Journal: Day 28

Today I'm thankful for a good book. I started it this morning and am over halfway through.

Wicked foggy this morning so I didn't feel guilty for sitting on the couch and reading.

Then, this afternoon, I sat out on the porch with a quilt reading for another hour or so.

Hope I can sleep tonight but I'll probably be up late with my nose in the book.

Gratitude Journal: Day 22

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Today, I'm thankful that I didn't have to cook.

Thanks, Sally, for a wonderful meal!

I'm grateful my husband offered to bake this apple pie for us to contribute.

I'm grateful for his silliness. He saw me coming with the camera!

I'm grateful I didn't have to set the table...

...or clean up afterwards!

And I'm grateful for a beautiful sunset on the ride home.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Gratitude Journal: Day 21

Today I'm so happy to have my camera back!

I went out as the sun was setting and took a few pics.

:-)

Gratitude Journal: Day 20

Went to Ft. Myers to pick up my cleaned camera. Also, stopped at Verizon to see if they could help me get my 3G activated.

It's been an ordeal!

I tried a couple times when we were still in Maine and each time I got an activation error that said to try again later or call customer support. I hate customer support so I put it off...and off...until we got to Florida.

Then, I tried again. No luck.

Then my iPad died so I went to the Apple store. While there I had the technician help me get it activated but even he couldn't do it on the new iPad they replaced my dead one with.

He tried changing the SIM card but still nothing. So, he got me another new iPad and it still wouldn't work.

He suggested I call customer support. Ugh! But I did a couple days later. That guy was so nice but after an hour of trying, he was stumped.

Finally, yesterday, I took it into a Verizon store. The girl who waited on me was so helpful. She explained that there are two ways to activate the 3G: pre-paid and post-paid. I had been trying the pre-paid way because the post-paid way required my Verizon password and I had no idea what it was since I made it years ago and have never used it.

She had no success doing it the pre-paid way, either, but since I was there in person and I showed her a picture ID, she was able to activate it using the Post-paid method (after trying a couple times, asking her manager for help, calling support, and starting all over again)!

Fun, you bet!

So, yesterday I was grateful the mystery was finally solved and I don't have to deal with it anymore!

And I was grateful for a peaceful walk in the dark to clear my head after I got home.

Gratitude Journal: Day 19

Yesterday, we visited Kermit Weeks's Fantasy of Flight Museum in Polk City.

It was a cool, breezy, cloudy day but my sister, Sally, her husband, Mike, and their daughter, Michelle, went with us and we had such a good time.

My Nikon was still in for a cleaning so I only had my iPhone and didn't take very many photos. But, I had fun this morning playing with one of them in the PS Express app.

Gratitude Journal: Day 18

I'm grateful for the new little antiquish children's desk I bought at a neat consignment place called Funky Junkie's. It's the perfect place for my printer.

Gratitude Journal: Day 16

Today, I'm grateful for technology. The new iPad I just bought in September died so I took it to the Apple Store and they gladly replaced it with a new one. I was so happy to see my familiar icons, again!

Today I'm thankful for the ocean. We took a boat ride to Rum Bay for lunch with my two sisters and two brothers-in-law. We always have such a great time when we get together.

Beautiful sights everywhere!

Gratitude Journal: Day 12

Today I'm grateful for onions.

I love how they separate into rings and are easy to chop.

I love how they add such a wonderful, savory flavor to foods.

I love how they caramelize.

I even love how they sting my eyes and make them tear up. I always think of the childhood story of everyone trying to make the mean princess cry. No one was successful until the guy who had her chop onions. And that reminds me of being a kid. And that reminds me of my parents. And that always makes me smile.

Gratitude Journal: Day 11

Grateful for my little craft area. I've actually been journaling. On this page I glued a bunch of stamps my friend, Anne, sent me last year. She loves quotes and encloses them in her letters. Today I went through them and tore out the ones I'll use in my journal. You can see them in the foreground. Thanks, Anne!

Grateful Journal: Day 9

I'm grateful for this nice day:

It started with this lovely sunrise.

Then continued with a ride to Boca Grande.

We caught a view of the beach,

saw cool gift shops,

spied this proud lighthouse,

ate lunch at the Pink Pony

under a grass umbrella.

A beautiful sunshiny day!
