Journal Rewind #16

All these stamps were on my desk so I decided to use as many as I could all at once. Each one is like a miniature work of art.

Journal Rewind #14

I wish you could see the names of the books because they are all about prejudice. My friend, Anne's daughter, Leah, entered this contest with a quote. They could write quotes or draw pictures. Leah was one of the three finalists. This is the winning picture. Love it!

Here are some of the book titles:
My Brother is Now My Sister
Four Eyes
I Have Two Mommies
Growing Up Country
Born This Way

A Night Out
Not us! Gary's father! His girls took him to a BBQ rib dinner then karaoke. Looks like he had a blast. Jeri, his occasional Maine caretaker, is down visiting and she took the pictures. She posted them on Facebook. I saved them and gave them a glaze bath.

Bob and 92-year old Rose.

Sandy, his main caretaker,
shaking a leg with a friend.

Sandy's daughter, Trish, snuggling
with Bob. Bob loves his girls. One
time Nathan walked in when they
were getting him ready in the morning,
and he said, "These are MY girls; get
your own!

And, here is Jeri taken a couple days
ago when we were out on the boat.

Journal Rewind #13

Once I got back from Italy I mostly worked on my travel journal so didn't get back to my normal journal until we got to Florida. This is the first page I did down here.

Journal Rewind #12

I started this page before my trip to Italy and never finished it.

But, I had fun doing all the layering, something I should do more of.

Nature Walk

I talked Gary into going to the Punta Gorda Nature Park with me this afternoon. We'd never been before but I'd seen it the other day so wanted to check it out.

There was a nice, groomed trail meandering all through the park. Gary warned me about rattlesnakes and made me walk right in the middle of the trail behind him.

There are markers describing all the different wildlife we might see and, sure enough, there is one for rattlers! Luckily, we saw only a black racer as it slithered across the path right in front of us.

It took us almost a half hour to go through it so we got a little walk in and I was able to take some pictures of weeds, my favorite subjects.

A nice thing to do on a lazy, 83-degree Sunday afternoon.

Journal Rewind #11

I love a black page. The pens I use are called Soufflé. I found the old snaps in among my mom's sewing supplies. And, thanks, again, to Anne for all the carefully cut out stamps!

Our Evening

We went out to eat at The Outback, tonight. We hadn't been to one in years.

The food was just as delicious as always. We shared a bloomin' onion, then I had a small steak topped with crab and Hollandaise sauce. Of course, I never thought to take pictures. Duh!

Afterwards, we went to Fishermen's Village...

for an ice cream...

and to watch the sun set over Charlotte Harbor.

Gary's father was with us and this gave him a nice little walk even though he complained the whole way and kept asking when we were going to pour him into bed. He's 87 and just wants to sleep all the time. The ice cream was a good incentive to get him moving. He ate all his coffee ice cream, too!

I took all these pictures with my iPhone even though it's hard to see what I'm taking since this happened.

I'm due for an upgrade on Feb. 10th. Can't wait!

Journal Rewind #9

My sister, Sally, and her daughter, Michelle, made the picture frame for me about ten years ago. It's made out of Popsicle sticks and mica. I came across it so definitely had to use it. Look at that cute little Michelle!

Journal Rewind #8

I love when other people write in my journal. Erin saw my journal sitting on my desk and drew the flower then wrote a nice note to us and decorated the edge with flowers and love. :-)

Journal Rewind #7

Michelle did the background for this page.

Company

Some summer friends, Dan and Nancy, from the campground in Maine visited us yesterday and we went for a boat ride. The cool thing was they had their granddaughter, Rylee, with them and it was great to be with a kid, again.

Rylee's mom, Danielle, was also along.

We went to Rum Bay for lunch then took a walk on the beach.

As you can see, it was a beautiful day and we all had a great time.
