A Busy Weekend

Kylie is eight.
Then two ten-year-old boys show up.
Disaster?
Fun?

Magic!

They had a blast!

Wildflowers

I'm sitting in the car waiting while my husband
and son fuel the airplane. I look around and see
clumps of wildflowers. I feel my fingers tingle

to pick up my camera and press the shutter button.
So, I do just that. I set my Nikon to aperture priority
and skooch down to get as close as possible

to the flowers. It's a cloudy day so unlikely I'll be able
to catch any bokeh but the backgrounds will be soft
and blurry, at least. I look through the viewfinder,

press my finger on the shutter button halfway until
I hear the little ding that signals I've got my flower
in focus, then click. I kneel in the grass. I lie down.

I click and click capturing yellow, lacy white, pink,
gold, purple, tiny daisies with their timeless questions:
he loves me, he loves me not. I marvel at the beauty

to be found on the side of a paved parking lot in the state
of Maine, on a brooding Saturday in August. I head back
to the car, my camera heavy from all that sweetness.

A Little Plane Ride

A spot in a hangar opened up near our son's house so we flew the plane over to his place in NH, then he flew back to Maine with us, we went to lunch, then he flew the plane back. I snapped a bunch of pictures along the way.

A pretty farm scene

A white homestead

A meandering stream

Nay waiting for us on the side of the taxiway

And here is Nay's home across the pond from the airport. It's the second one from the left.

Eden's First Birthday

Hard to believe this little cutie is a year old, already.

She really enjoyed her cake...both eating it and decorating her mother with it.

She loves her garden.

James with his sister.

Nine-year-old River, Eden's other big brother.

Some of Alissa's beautiful flowers.

And a moth

We had such a nice time!

Last Night

My friend, Deirdre, and I drove down to Kennebunkport to walk on the beach. It was low tide so the ground was nice and firm which made for easy walking.

The sky and the clouds and the sunset were so amazing!

MIA

It has come to my attention by someone who shall remain nameless (LOL!) that I haven't updated this blog in quite some time.

I've been mad at it.

Two months ago when we flew to California to buy an airplane, I planned on posting our progress on the way back each night. After the first leg I prepared a nice post with interesting pictures but it would not let me post!

I tried everything. In fact, I have it saved and tried again this morning but no luck. It keeps telling me there is a problem with the photos. I tried deleting some but that didn't help.

Instead, I've been creating visual stories on Storehouse. It's a really cool app. You can access it on a computer at www.storehouse.com or, if you have the app, just do a search using my name.

Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed this one will post.

Here are a few pictures from the last two months:

Gloria and Kylie at Gloria's 83rd birthday party.

Nathan reading a tribute to Gary's father when we committed him to the sea. You can see the biodegradable package his ashes were in.

Yesterday's Sunrise.

My daughter and I sat in the quiet morning watching this happen.
