Tuna #4

Yes, Gary got another tuna today.  He hooked up early at 6:15 this morning and fought it for 4 hours before getting it up to the boat.

Then when he was ready to harpoon it, a huge shark hit it and bit the tail off!

Luckily he was able to get it in the boat.

It weighed in at 420 lbs. but would have been about 450 if the whole thing had been there.

Here's Gary (on the right) with his fishing buddy, Don, admiring their catch.

Next stop: Tokyo.  (For the fish, not Gary!)

A Forgotten Page

Here's a page I missed before.  Don't know why.  Just getting old.

We had a nice visit with family over the Fourth.

Michelle and Kylie wanted to play in my journal so I said sure.  They are both so creative!

Tastefully British

Anne and I went to Tastefully British for lunch today.  It's a wonderful little place in the middle of a strip mall.  Once you walk in the door, however, you're in a different world.  It feels like someone's dining room with all the personal touches.  There are roses and tea sets everywhere.  They even have pictures of their grand kids and great grandkids on the mantel.  It's owned by two British ladies and they do everything themselves.  Their accents were delicious!

Each pot of tea comes in it's own homemade cozy.

We ordered an African mint tea.  It was great!

I got a Cornish Pasty and it was huge and spicy and yummy.  It was accompanied by a side salad.

Here's the mantel with the family pics.

And here I am holding Anne's red purse along with my own outside.  You can see the lace in the widow and all the tea pots.

We had a great time and will definitely go back to this little English jewel in the middle of Sarasota.

My Sister's Quilts

My sister, Nancy, is a quilting machine!

She took me into her quilting room yesterday and I just had to take pictures of this eye candy.

Here are three of the many quilts she has designed and sewed.  The bottom one consists of 3/4 inch squares...lots of 3/4 inch squares!

She's so creative!

In Florida

A visit with my mom

My husband loves his banana tree and asked me to post a picture of it so he could see his beloved.
Our house is on stilts and this is a picture of it looking down from the top of the stairs.

Tea, Anyone?

This will be me next week, hopefully!
My friend, Anne, and her two daughters went to Tastefully British, a restaurant in Sarasota, yesterday for tea.
Look at the cute striped cozy,
and pretty tea cups,
and the flowers,
and the lattice,
and, of course, the napkin!

I'm heading to Florida today to visit my mom and will take one day to see Anne and her kids and we'll go to lunch.  I'm going to have a Cornish Pasty.  Haven't had one since I was in England five years ago.
Can't wait!

Feelin' Lazy

I'm getting further and further behind.  This is from two weeks ago!

I'm sitting here on the couch with the computer on my lap taking in the scene.  The sun is dappling through the leaves tossing golden coins everywhere and my sheets are sashaying in the breeze.

I have chores to do and places to go...but I don't want to!

Do you ever have days when you just want to veg?

Tuna #3

Gary (on the left in his lucky truquoise fishing shirt) got a 311 lb. tuna yesterday...

and

another one today!  This one weighed 308 lbs.

I didn't get any pictures of yesterday's because it was already in the tuna buyer's truck by the time I got to the dock.

We should find out in a week or so how well they do at the tuna auction.

Goofs

I almost didn't finish this page because of the mistakes.

First, I wrote the wrong day.  You can see that I had to paint over the "Mon" that I wrote originally and replace it with Wed.  Duh!

Then I got the day when we went to Ken's mixed up.  I glanced back at the previous page and saw that I'd already journaled about it.  Instead of painting over it, I just put arrows.  Another Duh!

For Friday July 2nd, I couldn't remember anything about it!  It feels like I missed a day in my life.  Where was I?  Duh!

Any Duh! moments in your life lately?

A Gray Page

Between company and Kylie I haven't had much chance to work in my journal...but that's the beauty of it: whenever I want!

Do you have any no-pressure activities that you love?

A Peek into Kylie's Mind

While we were on our way to take Kylie home yesterday, we played a game.  I said, "Can you find something on the side of the road that begins with T?

And she said, "Truck!"

Then she said, "Can you find something that begins with D?

And I said, "Dirt."

She was quiet for a minute then said, "I know something else that begins with D but it's not here; it's in my Nana's back yard,"

"What is it?"

"Delphiniums!"

Tuna!

My husband got his first, and, hopefully, not last, tuna of the season yesterday.  It was a small one at 74 inches and just under 200 lbs.  Here he is in his turquoise shirt with (l to r) my brother-in-law, Mike; our neighbor, Don; and my brother, Tim.

We went down to meet them at the dock where the tuna buyer transferred the fish from the boat to his truck.  Kylie wasn't real crazy about standing next to it without Grammy.  But, after a minute she got brave and even touched it.  "It feels like wood" she said.

Trip to North Conway, NH

Took a ride to North Conway yesterday.  It was about 100 degrees there!  We went to Horsefeathers Restaurant for lunch and Kylie got silly.

Look at this yummy salad I had!

In front of Zeb's General Store

And our budding photographer taking pictures of the beautiful flowers.

Last Weekend

I've been having trouble printing pictures because every time I try, I get a message that says the computer can't communicate with the printer.  Guess I'll have to buy a new cable.  My pages are pretty boring without photos!

Blue

Michelle drew the lines on the right and glued the stamps on.  I painted the left side and colored in some of the shapes and wrote in others.  I think we make a pretty good team!
