Back to Camp

It's nice to be back at camp continuing my journal. I just poke away at it during the day in between doing other things.

My husband has been tuna fishing for the last two days so I've had plenty of time to go to the beach, ride my bike, cook, read, write, and craft.

My mom is doing better and should be able to leave the hospital on Tuesday.

I know the "W" in Wed. looks like an "M." Okay, it is an "M"! I don't know what I was thinking as I drew it. I thought about painting over it but it was a color I'd mixed and I'd never get the right shade again so just left it.

My Little Cutie

Kylie is such a little ham!

She just loves having her picture taken.

We were at the hospital this afternoon visiting with my mom who is on the mend.

Afterwards we went to the Dairy Bar for supper. The waitress asked her what her name was and she said, "Kylie and my mom's name is Erin and my daddy is Shaun and he said a bad word!"

Withdrawal

I'm back at home for three days of teacher workshops and left my journal at camp. I miss it!

And I might not be able to return to Maine over the weekend because my mom is getting out of the hospital and I don't want to leave her alone.

Maybe I can work something out with my brother and sister-in-law. Plus my mom has LifeAlert.

Anyway, we'll see what happens.

Where Did the Time Go?

It's been a nice last week of vacation. Mostly, because I've just been puttering around the camper doing the things I love to do.

I was thrilled to get a Canadian postcard stamp from my friend and fellow English teacher, Suzanne.

The Weekend

This page is from last weekend, as you can see.

Lots of motorcycle riding! Love it!

Nathan emailed this picture to me of him and a new "friend." We haven't met her yet but hope to next Saturday. If the picture is any indication, she looks pretty and friendly.

I Love This Poem!

This is one of those pages that I had high hopes for but that let me down. I mean, it's okay but just didn't pop out and smile at me like I thought it would.

Whenever I paint the background on my pages, I stick a couple of scrap pieces of paper behind them. I reuse them and the present one was getting actually quite pretty so I decided to use it as the border for this spread. Somehow, it just didn't look so pretty when I got it on there.

Then I made a mess outlining the Emerson poem. The red got on my little finger and I smeared it everywhere.

Finally, I just stopped working on it and said to hell with it. Time to move on to a new page.

It's Raining Sunshine Today!

Just got back from golfing and it felt so good to be out in the sunshine after all the rain we've had. I didn't do very well but it was nice to be out getting exercise, anyway.

I couldn't get the left page to lie flat for the picture and it's awfully dark looking. Probably because I took it on a cloudy day.

I tore a napkin with wine and grapes on it and glued it down with Golden's Gel Medium.

I was tempted to keep the quilted placemats and matching napkins that my sister made! They are so pretty. But I mailed them yesterday to the couple getting married next Saturday.

New Look

Thanks to Lisa at Simple Journeys I now have a new header that fits me perfectly. I had to change my template because the old one didn't have a header that stretched across the top and only showed part of the banner. I like the nice clean look to this one. THANKS LISA!

Boy, this is a busy page! It didn't seem so bad when I was doing it. I was just watching the Olympics and doodling away.

Blueberry Bliss

Stayed up late watching the fantastic Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics.

It's been raining here all week but woke up this morning to the sun shining. What a treat!

This is a page from last weekend when Kylie was here along with others.

I know it looks like I wrote the 23rd of August but I was trying to write the 2nd and 3rd. Duh!

With a Little Help From My Friend

I keep snippets of things all over my craft desk. When my niece, Michelle, came over this night, she arranged as many of the snippets as she could on this background. I liked what she did so just glued everything where she had put them.

What a Ride!

Now that my husband has put a new, and much more comfortable, seat on his Harley, we are able to go on much longer rides.

The scenery on this trip was just fantastic! (Not to mention the lobster rolls!)

The flowering of Mich's hibiscus is really a miracle. When she first bought it, she wanted to transplant it into a pretty container but the roots were too big, so she cut them off. Needless to say, it went into major shock and most of the leaves fell off. Gradually, it came back and that beautiful bloom greeted us when we got back that day.

Two Lights

We've been having so much fun taking motorcycle rides this summer. The people across the street from us at camp have a bike, too, so it's fun going on these adventures together.

Last weekend Tori and Michelle had fun making sticker pictures for me to use on my journal pages. Michelle's will be along soon.
