The Fourth Banner

I'm late again but finally found some time this afternoon to do some crafting.
The Haiku reads:
My mind is a length
of thread and I bead one dream
after another on it.

Kylie Pics

Here she is sitting on the stairs. She loves climbing up and down and always says, "She'll do it by herself."
The video caught her saying the alphabet but I missed the beginning.

A Thank You Note

This is a thank you note the paraprofession-al in one of my classes gave me for a Christmas gift I had given her. It came at just the perfect time because a few days before, unbeknownst to her and while she was still in Arizona visiting her daughter, I had given the students a lesson in how to write thank you notes. I shared this page with them to show them that ty notes are still alive.

They also loved looking at my journal and asked all kinds of questions about how I do it and, I know that several of the girls are thinking of starting one.

It's amazing how many postage stamps fit the theme of the pages I do. As you can see here, the stamp matches the daisy on the thank you. I love coincidences like that!

The Red, White, and Blue

I painted this flag-looking page when I got home from school. A little while later the mailman dropped off a letter from my friend with the big flag on the back of the envelope and another piece of mail with that presorted stamp.

Third Banner

Well, here it is, finally! I'm sure I'm the last one to post. At least, it's before Wednesday!
Someone asked me last week what my background is and, yes, it's corrugated paper that I got at Michael's. They only had olive and and rust so I had to paint the rust one to make the wine color. I put a gesso wash over it thinking it would make it dreamier, but, if I had it to do over, I wouldn't have.
It's been fun trying new things and I've learned so much from viewing everybody else's.
This week's haiku reads:
Snow piles up outside.
I close my eyes and picture:
Sun. Green. Lacy leaves.
I know I used commas in the last line on the banner but I think I'm going to change them to periods. The commas make it seem like the words "sun" and "green" are describing the leaves when I just wanted to dream about sunshine and greenness and leaves.

New Year's Day

Sometimes I don't have any pictures to add so I just write.

Second Banner

For this one we had to use the letter R and the optional element was to use ribbon.
I bought a new black ink pad so the haiku shows up much better. In case you can't read it, here it is:
A dream ribbons out
like a crazy quilt highway
joining dusk to dawn.

I must have been really bored the night I did all these dots!

New Year's Journal Page

My friend, Anne, from Florida, sent me the New Year's picture on the left. It was the front of a letter.

I enjoyed writing with the gold leaf pen!

First Banner

Lisa at http://simple-journeys.blogspot.com/ is hosting Banner Month. Each Wednesday we post a banner about Dreams. This week's banner had to have a D on it and a dragonfly (optional).

This is my first time participating in something like this and it's fun. I've only been doing this type of project for less than a year so felt kind of reluctant at first but figured it would be a good way to see other people's work and get inspiration.

My haiku reads:

Asleep, I learn that
dreams are like dragonflies~
the future has wings.
