Envelope

Check out this envelope we got in the mail last week.

The two bottom stamps are from 1946. They aren't rare and maybe only worth about $10, but, how weird to see them on a letter.

Vidia

Kylie gave herself a new name.  Vidia is a favorite fairy of hers and she decided to rename herself that.

Vidia got herself dressed today.  I love her style.

And her modeling!

And her faces!

Whiteout

We drove down to pick Kylie up this morning and the conditions were harrowing!
Very windy!

Sometimes it was hard to see the road.

Look at all these skiers heading to Wildcat.  I can't imagine being out in this weather.

And sometimes the road disappeared altogether.

But it was all worth it!

Nature Journaling

I teach an elective class called Nature Journaling.  Most days we head outside for a walk until we find a good place to sit and sketch and journal.
Here are six of my girls walking down a snowmobile path near the school.

A cool weed

Today, their assignment was to find some color in the boring winter.  Here are some sumac seeds hibernating.

Veronica, Kayleen, Cassandana, and Alicia (love those cool names!) hard at work.  It was so warm today, about 50 degrees and we could have sat here for hours.

Balance

Woke up this morning to no hot water.
This has happened before so I went to the cellar and pushed the reset button on the hot water tank.
Instead of taking my shower first, I decided to eat first.
And because I was downstairs near a window facing east,
I saw this beautiful sky.
If I'd taken my shower first, I'd have missed it.

Two Blue Pages in a Row

Kylie spied my stamps and went to town decorating the right side of this spread.

Had an English meeting today after school so I had to miss Zumba.  Hate that!

Here's a picture I took yesterday.  I was trying to get a cool, blurry background but it didn't really work as well as I had hoped.

These books are on my great uncle's old steamer trunk that I use as a coffee table.  I love Susan Branch.  She hand paints every single page even the copyright page.  These cookbooks are really works of art.

The top two books are poetry.  I always have one or two close by.  You never know when you'll need a poem!

What books do you keep nearby?

Blue and Green...

...should never be seen except in the washing machine!
I can remember this little saying from 6th grade.  We wouldn't be caught dead in blue and green.  Can't imagine why since I think it's pretty.
